Thank you for your continued support and patience, in regard to both your child's academics, and work to rule. While work to rule was on, business as usual was happening in our classroom, but, I was not able to post about it on here. Now that it's over, I'm going to do my best to post regular updates on what is happening in our classroom to help keep everyone informed.
I can't believe there is only one month left until the Holiday Break and we are having such beautiful weather (hope I didn't just jinx it)!
Today we:
-Finished (almost everyone) the Data Management Unit Test, I'm looking forward to marking those and getting them back to students ASAP
-we are now beginning our unit on patterning and algebra
- French
-Had 100 minutes of Literacy:
-Independent reading/work on novel study -we are on the 3rd novel study-due mid- December
-Visualization Reading Strategy Practice mini lesson/practice (the students enjoyed finding the countries we read about on google maps and actually seeing what the countries looked like-it felt like we were actually there- so cool!)
-Word Work- "Word Art Wednesday" with our 10 vocabulary words
-Mini Lesson and PowerPoint on some literary devices ( simile, metaphor, hyperbole, personification, understatement, etc.)
Science
Gr. 8's: worked on a Venn Diagram comparing plant and animal cells, and began learning about osmosis and diffusion
Gr. 7's: learning about primary and secondary succession and answered some follow up questions after a power point presentation
Health (in the computer lab)
Grade 7's: started researching a student- selected health disorder with a partner
Grade 8's: started researching a student- selected nutrient individually
